Aimed at biological recorders, data managers and verifiers who want to learn how to use Record Cleaner to check and clean species occurrence records.

  • Gain an understanding of what Record Cleaner is and how it is used to check and improve the quality of biological records before submission to recording schemes and data repositories.

  • Develop confidence in using Record Cleaner to run automated checks, interpret flagged records, apply relevant rule-sets, and amend datasets to improve accuracy and reliability.

  • Understand how to prepare and export validated datasets from Record Cleaner in appropriate formats for submission to verifiers, Local Environmental Record Centres, and national recording platforms.

Keiron Brown

Biological Recording Specialist

Keiron is a dedicated advocate for biological recording and invertebrate education. As the developer and manager of the BioLinks project for the Field Studies Council, Keiron spearheaded the delivery of more than 200 in-person and virtual training sessions, supporting both new and experienced invertebrate recorders. In 2023, he founded the Biological Recording Company to further promote and support biological recording initiatives. Keiron has also led the National Earthworm Recording Scheme since 2014 and sits on the advisory council for the National Forum for Biological Recording.
